girls boarding school

Academics at Sunrise

The academic focus of our girls boarding school allows for personalized attention to each of our students

Like traditional girls boarding schools, Sunrise provides small class sizes and a challenging curriculum to support each student's academic needs. We tailor each girl's academic plan according to her individual needs. We offer a variety of courses at the junior high and high school levels, and provide students with college-prep level course work.

Above and beyond the traditional girls boarding school, Sunrise is a residential treatment center which provides a therapy and treatment in a nurturing environment for girls struggling with depression, substance abuse, anxiety and other behavioral disorders.

Our therapeutic school creates the necessary setting for emotional and behavioral growth and teaches girls with the skills they need to experience the highest level of academic success

A positive academic atmosphere is achieved through small, conventional classes. Our certified teachers provide direct instruction and one on one assistance to our students, which allows each girl to work at her own pace. Our teachers and staff work together to meet the needs of the girls and encourage them to reach their academic goals. Troubled teens who are underachieving in the academic area due to their issues with ADHD, low self-esteem, depression or anger management need that unique environment with the personal attention to help them get back on track and develop strategies that lead to success.

" As for the future, it is your job not to foresee it, but to enable it."

- Angela P., Age 17,
Ontario, Canada

Through the residential treatment program girls reconnect with learning, and personal success

Sunrise believes that troubled teens need a positive learning atmosphere to reconnect with their academic interests, goals, and love of learning. Our schedule reflects the importance of academic achievement, and a balance of direct instruction and supervised independent study contributes to our success. We provide our parents with monthly progress reports that reflect the growth and change that is taking place academically. Our Academic Director participates in the weekly Treatment Team, to stay on course with any modifications that the student's needs dictate. We utilize community resources such as libraries, vocational testing and area colleges and universities for independent study and specialized electives, and the girls are provided with specialists and tutors as the need arises.
